How to Calculate Timeless Jewel Probabilities
In the action RPG Path of Exile, Timeless Jewels are incredibly powerful items that modify your passive skill tree based on a randomized "seed" number. Players use Divine Orbs to re-roll these seed numbers in hopes of hitting a combination that perfectly buffs their specific build.
However, with seed pools ranging from 7,500 to over 150,000 possibilities, blindly throwing currency at a jewel is mathematically dangerous. Our calculator uses standard Probability Math to tell you exactly what your chances are and whether you should craft it yourself or buy it from another player.
Understanding the Seed Pools
Not all Timeless Jewels are created equal. The chance of hitting a specific seed heavily depends on the jewel's unique numerical range:
- Brutal Restraint: 500 - 8000 (7,501 outcomes)
- Glorious Vanity: 100 - 8000 (7,901 outcomes)
- Lethal Pride & Militant Faith: 10000 - 18000 (8,001 outcomes)
- Elegant Hubris: 2000 - 160000 (158,001 outcomes)
The Gambler's Fallacy
If you have a 1 in 100 chance to hit a seed, rolling 100 Divine Orbs does not guarantee a success. Due to how binomial probability works, you only have about a 63% chance to hit your target within the average number of rolls.
Always ensure your "Acceptable Seeds" count is as high as possible. Use external community tools to find multiple seeds that benefit your build, rather than chasing one specific "god seed", to keep costs reasonable.
