What is the Lo Shu Grid?
The Lo Shu Grid is a 3x3 magic square from ancient Chinese numerology and Feng Shui. Legend has it that the pattern was discovered on the shell of a divine turtle emerging from the Luo River. In this magic square, the sum of the numbers in any direction (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) always equals 15.
Today, numerologists map your date of birth onto this fixed grid to analyze personality traits, potential life paths, and compatibility.
Core Numerology Numbers
Before populating the grid, two primary numbers must be calculated from your birth date:
- Driver Number (Mulaank): This is the sum of the digits of your birth day, reduced to a single digit (1-9). For example, if you were born on the 25th, your Driver is 2 + 5 = 7. It represents your natural characteristics and how you view yourself.
- Conductor Number (Bhagyank): This is the sum of all the digits in your full date of birth (DD-MM-YYYY), reduced to a single digit. It represents your destiny, career path, and how the world sees you.
Populating the Grid
The Lo Shu grid has fixed positions for numbers 1 through 9. To build your personal chart:
- Take every non-zero digit from your date of birth.
- Add your Driver Number to the list of digits.
- Add your Conductor Number to the list of digits.
- Place each digit into its dedicated cell on the 3x3 grid.
If a number appears multiple times, it is repeated in the cell (e.g., "11" or "444"). If a number does not appear in your date of birth or core numbers, the cell remains empty, indicating a "missing number" that requires conscious effort to balance in your life.
